Women empowerment through livelihood training and awareness is a crucial aspect of promoting gender equality and ensuring the overall development of women. It involves providing women with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to enhance their economic independence, self-confidence, and decision-making abilities. BVT enable them to access employment opportunities, start their own businesses, and generate income, thereby promoting economic independence and empowerment.
Smt. Vasanthi Pai, who headed the Trust as chairperson in 1982-83, greatly desired women to learn all sorts of skills and become independent. She had undertaken various novel programs for women, including homemakers, in rural areas to fulfill her dream. Training in the repair of electrical appliances was one of the new programs that she started for women. Women struggle when the everyday electrical appliances at home like mixers, grinders, fans, irons, sewing machines and tube lights along with the wiring, break down. The training enables them to solve the problems themselves.
Livelihood training equips women with the necessary skills and knowledge to generate income and become financially independent. It helps them break free from the cycle of poverty and dependence on others.
Educational programs prioritize holistic development, encompassing cognitive, emotional, social, and physical well-being of students, unaided school teachers, ASHA/ANMs, and rural women.
